“ERC Smart Water Futures project progresses in designing next-gen water systems. How do you provide water certainty when it comes to an uncertain future? How can we ensure water systems are robust against multiple future scenarios?
These are some of the questions being explored by a European collaboration seeking to design urban drinking water systems fit for the future. To provide an update on a six-year, €10 million European Research Council (ERC) funded project, representatives from the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Greece, and Cyprus met at the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence at the University of Cyprus. The ‘Smart Water Futures: Designing the Next Generation of Urban Drinking Water Systems’ team combines leading experience in water science, systems and control theory, economics and decision science, and machine learning. By the end of this year, a total of 12 PhD students and 14 YY postdoctoral researchers will be working on the Smart Water Futures development.”
