“Agriculture is suffering from increasingly drier summers; at the same time, wastewater treatment plants discharge large quantities of effluent into the surface water. It would be great if the two problems could be linked to provide a solution: using treated effluent for subirrigation beneath agricultural land. The RUST project is investigating the possibilities.
